Branch new XPS 15 9520 with very poor performance

I just got this new laptop and disabled all non windows services rebooted and ran geekbench5.4.5.

It got the lowest score of all results for 9520, not just by a little, but by a lot. ~25-30% lower on all tests.

It's plugged in and located a large room with A/C. When I compare result details with other 9520's report details almost everything is identical, except I see their memory speed is reported at 2394mhz, while mine is reported at 967mhz.

When I load up CPU-Z, and review the memory tab I can see the speed of the memory on my laptop changing all over the place. At times up to 2394mhz but mostly at 997mhz.

I'm not sure if this is a simple fix such as an OS setting, BIOS setting, geekbench software issue. More concerning is if I have a hardware issue perhaps with the memory or controller?

Any ideas what this could be? Troubleshooting steps to try? Thanks for any help.

Dell is now coming to replace part inside the laptop, I'll update you after they've fixed the defects.

A tech come today onsite, replaced the heatsink\fans,( at my request he also applied more thermal paste since the parts come with it added from the factory.)  Now, I'm happy to report, my CPU doesn't run at 100 C for each and every task and my geek bench scores are:

1751 for single-core and 11450 for multi-core

Thank you!!!!!!

I would return the unit.

Perform a hard RESET (hold the power button down for 30 seconds)

Run supportassist and check for available updates.

RESET BIOS to default.

Perform a cloud RESET ( F12 > SupportAssist > RESET > RESET and update)

Just play with your settings.
I started off like you with 15xx / 10xxx then:

- enabled "Intel Turbo Boost Maximum Technology 3.0" in BIOS
- set thermal mode to "Ultra Performance" in the "My Dell" app
- set Windows "Power mode" to "Best performance"

Now my scores are acceptable:

Single-Core: 1778
Multi-Core: 11870

The Turbo Boost Setting doesn't seem to make much difference though. I turned it off and the results are similar.
I did put the laptop on a fan cooled  tray though. That may have made a difference too.

Now when I try to reply to a message from dell asking for my service tag and express code I get an error saying I cannot send because of too many messages and try again later.

These steps made my scores worse.  Now it's dropped into the 1400s

I am attaching a link to a video file that I took to show the group what I believe may be the source of the issue. Please click the link to download the video I took with my iPhone.

The CPU core temperatures spike to 100° C simply by navigating the file browser and I believe poor thermal paste application, or some other manufacturing defect is leading the laptop to not operate correctly due to thermal issues.

I'm about to lose it.  The cooling solution Dell has provided with this laptop is unacceptable.  I've got an XPS 15 with a core 19 12900HK, 64GB RAM, nvidia 3050ti, 1tb nvme.  I got my company to spend a stupid amount on my laptop so I'd be able to run VMs and do other tasks that require extra power.  A lot of good it does me to have a decked out laptop if the CPU overheats doing simple task based work (office, etc.), teams video, etc.  The CPU hits over 100 degrees C doing almost anything and HWmonitor shows the system throttling the proc.  Running the advanced diagnostics on dell support showed failures in both video cards and now that they have been replaced, diagnostics now show them to be bad again.  I'm at the point where I'm ready to return this thing...

The XPS 9520 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900HK 2.50 GHz 32 gb ram is Absolutely the worse computer I have ever owned and I have been using computers since the early 90's

After 3 months of use the screen started blinking like it was going to sleep. It start doing it once a day then went to every 5 min over time. I spent over 100 hours trying to resolve this issue with their help desk. Essentially 50% of the time I have had the computer I have not been able to work.

I have had 2 docking stations. 3 motherboards, onsite tech, OS reinstall, shipped to resolution center. Issue not resolved. Since it was over a month old they would not replace. So they shipped me a refurbished laptop. That lasted a week.

New(refurbished) XPS 9520 new problem. Desktop appearance will change every 5 to 10  reboots. Icon's too far apart on desktop  in if  there is a popup task for  settings. Its like there should be another icon between them. Also the solid background color I choose will go to black. So I have started the process over. First up they want to reinstall the OS. I don't have an infinite amount of time to work on this. ALL I WANT IS A WORKING COMPUTER. Its hard to get a job as a web developer without a computer.

If you have purchased this computer you should extend your warranty immediately. I dont understand why dell cannot fix or provide me with a computer that works more than three months. Well the latest attempt only worked a week.

I have used multiple platforms in my 25 year career as a web developer and this is ABSOLUTELY hands down the worse product I have ever seen or heard of.
