CMOS ML 1220 Replacement

Question

Hi all, I think I need to replace my CMOS battery. I'm getting the error code and the laptop keeps faulting when removing battery off the charger. I thought it was just a typical CR 2032 battery but after opening up the XPS and removing the coin battery I realized it was an ML 1220. After some research it seems the ML 1220 is a rechargeable battery.  Does the XPS actually charge these batteries?  It seems next to impossible to buy a new one. Theoretically I should be able to just replace it with a CR 2032 if in fact the XPS doesn't provide a current to charge these. Does anyone know the simplest way to fix this issue or where I could buy an ML 1220 (i'm in Canada)?
