Dell without battery - very slow
XPS 15 7590
Hi, I'll tell you my story.
I bought a DELL 7590 less than 3 years ago.
In this period the mother joke has already broken three times. The problem is always the same: she does not recharge the battery and does not recognize the charger. The charger light goes out as soon as I attach it to the PC, showing a short circuit.
Yesterday it was returned to me from the third repair, it was not possible to fix the battery charge problem, but they fixed the power circuit problem, so I could use the computer without battery.
I thought, better than nothing.
Yet, the computer is EXTREMELY SLOW, there are at least 2 seconds of difference between when I press a key and when it is recognized, the same with clicks.
In short, it is unusable.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
This model is terrible and definitely not reliable, I am very sorry I bought it.

Sounds like the AC adapter is unrecognized by the system. F2 at powerup to get in and check.
If they've replaced the system board, but you did not send your adapter with the system, try a new OEM Dell adapter first.
An unrecognized AC adapter will result in the system running as if on battery all the time -- the reason for the slow performance.

I am using and USB-C charger from Dell, new. Could that be the issue? Do I need an Ac charger?

The Dell 7590 specifications dictate a 130W adapter. Your USB C adapter is probably less than that, so the system is throttling its power usage. Check the wattage rating on the adapter you are currently using (that is giving you problems).

Even if the USB-C adapter runs at full power, there are limits on how much power can be transmitted by USB-C, particularly on older systems like this one.
You need to have a recognized (check in setup, F2 at powerup), Dell OEM AC adapter of at least 130W in order for the system to run at full speed. USB-C will thottle the system as noted, as will an adapter the system does not recognize.

The adapter is an original dell adapter with 130w

Make sure you purchase an OEM adapter -- and if it also is not recognized, the next step is to replace the DC jack.
