Dell XPS 15 9520 USB- C to USB-A and Hdmi Cable?

So when I bought the xps 15  9520 laptop, I read it would come along with a usb-c to usb-a cable and a usb-c to hdmi cable.  The connection to usb-a is important for usb a ports.

Now when I noticed the cable, it is only 1 cable and thus an adapter?  It is like a 2 in 1 adapter  I had thought this was going to be 2 different cables.

If this is the case, wouldn't this mean someone can easily connect 2 external monitors without a docking station then?  There is no issue plugging a sabrent usb 4 port hub to this usb-a port to give it 4 usb a ports right?  Then you could connect an hdmi to whatever cable to another monitor.  And with the sabrent usb 4 port hub, you could also connect a cable matters ethernet cable.  So then with your 2nd thunderbolt 4 port, you could connect a usb-c to displayport with another monitor without any issue?  Then you have the usb-c port for charging your laptop?

Can anyone who has a dell xps 15 9520 confirm this?

So couldn't you connect 2 external monitors without any docking station if one monitor uses hdmi to whatever and another uses usb-c to whatever?

Hi,

maybe this little section of your users-manual / system specs helps ->

Usually, depending on the architecture, there is definitely  maximum given amount of monitors you can use at the same time along with the screen the notebook provides.

Regarding your connectivity questions. If you buy a "foreign" adapter / splitter / docking station  / hub whatsoever - check the specs its coming with and then you will know

- what are the limitations of the device

- will it work with the specific setup you are aiming for

Technically your system is able to provide you with ALOT of connections - you should be fine using your adapter / hub / docking station without any issues.

I bought myself one quite time ago and i havent encountered any issues so far - worst case - it will not be detected and thus not working properly - but depending on the model and brand - with modern computers these shouldnt be an issue anyway.

Okay so I connected this usb-c to usb-a/hdmi adapter to a thunderbolt 4 port on my laptop.  Then i connected a nonpowered sabrent usb 4 port hub to it.  So I can connect usb a devices to it and also hdmi cable to it for a monitor.

Now what I find a bit annoying is the usb-c port is on the right side of the xps 9520 and both thunderbolt 4 ports are on the left side.  I originally planned to use the usb 3.2 port on this laptop for charging the laptop since the thunderbolt 4 ports are more powerful and i read they support daisy chaining.  I had thought the thunderbolt 4 ports would be 1 on each side of the laptop which it isn't.  I find this a bit annoying because with my old xps 9550, i connected the nonpowered sabrent usb 4 port hub to one of the usb-a ports on the right side of my laptop.  I connect a wired keyboard to it so it is easier with the wires.

But if I have to connect that 2 in 1 adapter with the nonpowered sabrent usb 4 port hub on the left side of the laptop, that is annoying because the wire will have to come through the back of the laptop.  The way i have it set up on a desk is laptop on the left side.... monitor in the middle... and 2 monitors are on the middle and right side if you get what I mean.

Will there be some issues just plugging the 2 and 1 adapter and nonpowered sabrent usb 4 port hub to the usb 3.2 instead because it wouldn't supply as much power as the thunderbolt 4 or would that not be a concern?   Such as if whenever I connect a hard drive to it which I rarely do?  I know those use lot of power.

Because even if I used a dock... do most people connect the dock to the thunderbolt 4 port or the usb 3.2 port?  Why isn't the 2 thunderbolt 4 ports on each side as oppose to both being on one side?

Do most people here connect this Dell DA20 Adapter... also known as usb-c to hdmi/usb-a to their usb 3.2 port or thunderbolt4 port?  I connected it to the thunderbolt4 port but it is on left side of my laptop and don't have much space there so needed to put it on the usb 3.2 port on the right side of my laptop.

There is no issue with this right?  However, it just doesn't draw as much power as the thunderbolt4 port?

Anyone know why both thunderbolt4 ports on my left side of laptop and usb 3.2 on right as oppose to putting a thunderbolt 4 port on each side of the xps 15 9520?
