Logitech C920 webcam flickering on XPS13

Question

The picture starts OK when the laptop is turned on but after a few minutes starts to break up, see video https://youtu.be/D-UC1FWHsWQ   I've tried Disabling USB Selective Suspend in Power and Settings app Disabling 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' for all HID devices and USB controllers in Device Manager. Updating the Logitech drivers Swapping from the Logitech driver 'HD Pro webcam C920' to generic Microsoft drivers 'USB Video device' Nothing works.   The C920 works well on a different Windows 10 laptop. The inbuilt webcam works.   Has anyone seen this and does anyone have a fix?   many thanks

This answer will seem obvious when I state it, but I had to re-trace my steps a little to think of it.

My 920 started to jump and flicker on a Zoom call.
- uninstalled ManyCam to see if I had messed up a setting - no change

- installed Logi G Hub and change the anti flicker setting - no change

- ran USB extension cable and plugged cam directing into different USB port - Success

Why had this suddenly become an issue?

Initially the cam was plugged into a passive USB hub but worked fine. It shared the hub with my Keyboard. However, by Bluetooth mouse quit the other day and I had to use a USB mouse. My theory is the power draw was a little too much with both cam, keyboard and mouse all plugged in to the same hub.

I know this sounds simple, but remember troubleshooting a random computer reset issue at work years ago. It was caused by a laser printer that was only used when another staff member was in the office 3 days a week. Printer would power up and caused another person's computer to 'randomly' reset.

if you use the Logitech software try altering the powerline frequency (anti flicker) from it's present setting under properties>Video Proc Amp. The two options are 50 or 60 Hz...

I don't have that software, what is it called? I have very simple Logitech Control software which has an option for NTSC (60Hz) or PAL (50Hz). Swapping those makes no difference.

Answering my own question. Just as I was about to send the C920 camera back to Amazon I tried in the other USB-C socket on the Del XPS13.   It works. No flickering, no shearing, no break-up.   I've no idea why the two sockets should behave so differently.

Hey, thanks for that. Fixed my flickering issue too. Not on a Dell PC, however. I have had several tho, Dell PCs' that is. Still have & use a 2008 Latitude (Dual Core) & 2009 XPS 435MT (i7-950).
