Have you tried connecting the adapter directly to the wall bypassing the surge protector? Yes I know you said you have replaced the surge protector, doesn't mean that a new one won't cause problems.

Thanks for the response d5123101

I have not.

And I have not because that would defeat the main purpose - surge protection for my devices

Further I also don't think the surge protector is the issue - no other device experiences sudden, sustained loss of power

I do not know where you live to tell you whether electrical surges are common or not. In my experience, they are very rare. The fact that the charger goes that ever five to six days seems like an almost non issue to me. Is the charger always hot?

I have my desktop plugged into the same brand of surge protector, drawing from the same electrical source

It does not go out periodically - which leads me to believe surges are not the issue

I haven't checked the surface temperature of the adapter but it's brand new and when this occurred previously we changed adapters to no avail

Yeah I'm honestly not sure what to suggest if you don't want to try connecting directly to the wall. Let me know if the power adapter is always warm/hot. If this only happens every 5/6 days it doesn't seem like much of a hassle to unplug/replug. Try resetting BIOS settings to default.
