What are Dell's standard specifications for screen quality/gamut?
15.6-inch UltraSharp FHD IPS (1920x1080) Wide View Anti-
Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee (72% color
gamut)
• 15.6-inch UltraSharp UHD IGZO (3840x2160) Touch Wide View
LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee (100% Minimum
Adobe color gamut)
These are the options for the 5530 that im looking at. The 1080p lists a 72% color gamut. How I am able to compare this range to the other 100% Adobe gamut seems to be anyones guess. Note the ADOBE qualifier there. Phone support could confirm nothing at all. 72% Adobe RGB? 72% NTSC? 72%sRGB? 72% dci-p3? These are dramatically different standards. I could guess that they mean 72% Adobe RGB, as it seems to imply, but if it's 72%sRGB that is a deal breaker for this range of laptop. Phone/chat support is no help. Reviewers almost exclusively test the highest specc'd screens (sorry 1080p). So I'm supposed to roll the dice with this and order it?

@svejkovat you posted this in the XPS section but said you're looking at a "5530". Since there's no XPS 5530, I'm guessing you're looking at a Precision 5530? If so, the Precision 5530 is the sister system of the XPS 15 9570. Notebookcheck has a very detailed review of an XPS 15 9570 with an FHD panel here, including detailed analysis of the display. Hopefully this helps.

@svejkovat in addition to my reply above, here's one additional data point that might be of some use to you. I used Google to crawl Dell's site looking for references to 72% gamut on Precision systems that DID identify an actual color space. When I Googled "Precision 72% gamut sRGB site:dell.com", I didn't get very promising results. However, when I Googled ""Precision 72% gamut NTSC site:dell.com", I got several results that pointed to specs pages of various Precision systems. Of course that isn't ironclad information, and I agree it would be useful for Dell to identify an actual color space, but judging by the empirical evidence, it appears that it's 72% NTSC, which should be about 100% sRGB.

New here but did not see a subforum for workstation/precision models. Is it separate?

I don’t think there’s a section for the Precision laptops. Just saying that in that situation it’s a good idea to provide the full model name if you have to post a topic in the wrong section.

To assist Precision Laptops customers, I added this sticky to the top of the XPS Laptops Forum board, "Where is the Precision Laptops Forum board?".

As per the aforementioned site, dell mentions the color gamuts of 72% NTSC.
As per google 72% NTSC = 99% SRGB
