XPS 13 plus 9320 webcam not working

Webcam has suddenly stopped working. I have followed all suggestions from Dell (and others). Even after downloading and installing the latest Dell-recommended camera driver (and updating other Dell drivers, and ensuring all Windows updates have been applied, no luck. A camera name shows up in Device Manager, but no cameras are found in Bluetooth and Devices. Restarts galore too.

Anyone else having this issue, and has anyone found solutions? Sure feels like some combo of faulty or mis-matched Dell and Windows drivers...Any help appreciated.

UPDATE:  The screen replacement solved my issue.  The two red flashing IR lights now work!

Hi all,

We’d like to share the most recent workaround to fix webcam issues.

For Windows 11:

 To uninstall the USBBridge Extension v3.1.0.7611 driver, please follow the steps below:

1) Open Device Manager, locate the device as shown in the picture below, click 'View,' and select 'Drivers by device.

2) Double-click the oemxxx.inf file to identify the version that corresponds to v3.1.0.7611, as shown in the picture below:

 

You might notice two oemxxx.inf (cvfusbdfuextension.inf) files. Check which one has the driver version 3.1.7611 and proceed to remove it.

 

Note: If you only see one oemxx.inf (cvfusbdfuextension.inf) and it's version 3.1.0.7611, please proceed with the removal steps, and then continue to step 5).

3) Click “Remove driver” then select both the options and click “Remove”:


 

4) Wait for a minute the driver will be removed and re-scan to confirm it’s been removed.

Do step 5) only when you see one oemxx.inf(cvfusbdfuextension.inf) and it’s 3.1.0.7611 in step 2).

5) Download Camera driver 73.22000.1.8, A00 from Dell.com and install it.

6) Restart your system the issue will be fixed.

Hi all,

Follow these steps to ensure the Windows Hello operation: (infrared camera)

1. Reinstall the camera driver version A03

2. Ensure that all Chipset drivers are properly installed (Intel chipset device software and Integrated Sensor Solution driver). Use SupportAssist or Dell update for the same.
2.1 Open Support Assist
2.2 On the home page under drivers & download click “Run”

2.3 Install the updates available.

Note: Alternatively open “Dell Update” & Click “Check for updates” then install the available updates if any.

3. If the above steps didn’t solve the issue, please contact tech support by clicking on Get Help Now as this might need an OS installation followed by LCD replacement.

I started geting this issue since 2 days ago and I am a computer and electronics engineer myself and therefore I have tried everything under the moon and nothing seems to fix it I am lost for what caused it

It works.

For me it was a different driver version, but it still works!

This works!

Having the same problems with internal camera. Computer crashed again and again. There were problems with Windows Hello. It started after last Windows update I suppose.

@DELL- Nat M​ These instructions are kind of confusing, can you try and clear them up a bit?

#2 - "oemxxx.inf" - there are three versions of this file, even in your screen. Might be missing "(cvfusbdfuextension.inf)" here.  There is also a mention of 3.1.7611 in this step which I think is incorrect.

And after removing the driver and rescanning I no longer have the oemxx.inf(cvfusbdfuextension.inf) file.

Hi @DELL- Nat M, I got confused by your instructions and removed the two 3.1.7611 and the camera is still not working. What am I supposed to do now?

@DELL- Nat M​ it did not resolve it for me and you customer service is only suggesting a screen replacement can you please let me know what could be the issue. This is so frustrating

It worked for me for 24 hours, and now nothing. The camera driver is no longer detected, but the camera light remains permanently on. 

Another major problem with this computer: the fan makes (every 10-15 minutes) an abnormal scraping noise. I've tried all the instructions provided by dell to fix the problem but nothing works, I'll have to send my computer back to the factory for repair...
