XPS 9500 Power Adapter Not Recognized

Hello, 

I purchased my Dell XPS 9500 (Intel(R) Core i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz, Windows 11 Home) in September 2020. Recently, it stopped recognizing my power adapter 90% of the time. I purchased a new power adapter (Dell OEM) and replaced the battery. I still have the issue. The first time I boot up, the laptop will not recognize the power adapter. If I shut down and reboot, perhaps 70% of the time it will and I have no issues. My chance of success appears to be increased if I boot up up through Bios. I have plugged into multiple wall sockets and still have the same issue. Suggestions appreciated!

If the same issue was happened with both power adapters, I suggest that you may consider to replace the DC in power jack.  Although, it's a low cost component, do some research for the replacement process to see if you feel comfortable for DIY prior to making the jump.

@Chino de Oro​ It's odd because the laptop has three USB-C ports and the issue happens regardless of which port I plug the adapter into. Or is there a single component that could be causing the problem?

When performing troubleshoot of laptop power issue, there are 3 parts with potential causes:  power adapter, DC in power port/jack, and charging circuit on motherboard. 

When the issue is persisted with different power adapters, acting the same on 3 different charging ports, that will narrow down to charging circuit on motherboard.  Given that it's still working proper over 70% of the time, there is no need to replace motherboard yet.

There is another effort for resolution that's worth a try, test with different BIOS firmware.  It's a bit risky but it can be done safely when you follow procedures properly.  Here is the latest BIOS firmware for your system.  Scroll down and expand the instructions for update details  https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=0ygj4&oscode=wt64a&productcode=xps-15-9500-laptop
