XPS9310 + D6000: DisplayLink crashes after recent driver updates

After recent updates to my XPS9310 (see below)...

D6000 DisplayLink driver crashes:

I've tried both DisplayLink drivers -- from Dell support website and from DisplayLink website -- but no luck:

  • DisplayLink-Driver-for-Dell-SuperSpeed-USB3-Universal_VHPDW_WIN_9.3.3324.0_10.2.3.EXE
  • DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows 10.1 M0.exe
Any ideas or news on driver update?

Thanks.

Although this has been identified as an issue Dell is still pushing this non-compatible driver out to their customers via Dell Command.  Retract the driver until it has been fully vetted.

I've been battling this issue for the last couple of days, and I'm still not out of the woods. I have a Latitude 5420 with a D6000, but I don't think the model of the laptop matters. I confirmed that I'm now using version 9316 for the Intel drivers along with the latest DisplayLink drivers, but I still get the crashes described here. I saw another thread that certain changes had to be made to the BIOS settings. Is that true? Are there any other suggestions to fix this?

I had the exact same problem.

My XPS 13 9310 + Dell Universal Dock D6000 was working fine with two monitors connected.

Then the 18:th of April 2021. Crash *flickering *only cursor on black screen.

I tried everything and finally found the solution.

Do not bother reinstalling, update or uninstalling any drivers. Do not bother reinstall the BIOS. Do not bother opening the Device Manager. Do not uninstall any programs. Do not change settings in the Power Manager. DO NOT factory reset.

All of the above will just be a waste of time and will not work.

The problem is with the new DisplayLink driver that updates automatically in Windows Update. Hopefully they will fix it soon - so please report the problem to Dell or DisplayLink.

SOLUTION:

1. Make sure your dock is disconnected.

2. Select Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Update . And pause Windows Update for as long as possible.

3. Run the DisplayLink Installation Cleaner (9.1.1462) and restart your computer: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?d=64

4. Install DisplayLink Driver for Dell Version R9.1M2, A02-00: https://www.dell.com/support/home/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=55x11

5: Connect your D6000 to your XPS.

See my comment below! Maybe it will work for your Latitude.

Wish I would have seen sooner. My docking station failed after the Windows update at the same time (mid-April) and after an hour with tech support Dell decided to replace it under warranty. And guess what? New docking station didn't work either. I found similar instructions on the DisplayLink forum. Downgrading to 100.9316 did it for me too.
