About me

I have studied computer technology at Lambeth College for about five of the last ten years

In that time I have achieved diploma courses in computer installation, computer technology, customer service and computer maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting.

I have built a couple of computers for myself and friends.

Now my interest lie with buying the components on EBay and building from there. That way is more difficult, because I am not buying bundles; and you have to make sure that the components you buy are compatible with each other i.e. the RAM is compatible with the FSB speed and motherboard. It does’ not always work out, which I have found out to my cost but is a more satisfyingly rounded and educational experience and sense of achievement than when I was learning at college.

I am learning far more about system board architecture, like the North Bridge sand the South Bridge. It all definitely swings and roundabouts because by not buying a computer bundle I have no manual, to work off but to a computer geek like me itis far more rewarding.

Dell are a very good computer company who make their own systems with their own cases and power switch’s and their own operating system versions. This makes for a more difficult build because I have a DELL motherboard, with the RAM, CPU and fan, everything except a DELL case. I bought a new case before I stated this build but the spade connectors on the case I bought are not compatible with my DELL motherboard

But as this is the first time I have tried using threads, hopefully I will get better and find the answers I need it will add another useful tool to my box at the very least.
