alienware 16 aurora nvme standoff

I recently got this system, and wanted to install a new 2280 nvme drive.  I moved the standoff in the second drive slot to the correct placement, added the drive, but when putting the retention screw back into place, the screw head snapped off leaving the screw post lodged in the standoff.  I checked the manual for the part number only to find that there's no part number for the standoff.  with the ease of which the retention screw snapped off, I'm thinking that this might happen fairly often.  I believe the spec on the standoff is m3*2.4 (or less.  its kinda short).  where can I get a replacement or 2 (I'd like to set them into the unused area if possible)?

Share the private Service Tag with them so that they can verify the ownership and warranty status. This will also generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag.

    @Jesse L (retired)​ all he's looking for is the standoff dell part number, if there is 1. if there's 1 available, please provide it.

    In the Dell internal 16 Aurora AC16250 parts page, there is no listing for standoff. I see 8 screw sizes. But none of them are standoff screws.

    @DELL-ChrisM2​ same thing I saw in the manual. odd that this ends up being a potential system failure (given the issue stated; broken screw).  there should be a remedy for this somewhere...

    As the original poster, nytemare could offer comments to our discussion.

    It is not a "system failure". The system still works. The SSD is just not screwed down. But the SSD should still function since it is installed in the motherboard slot.

    * That means the standoff can be unscrewed from the motherboard. Not a system failure.

    the screw head snapped off leaving the screw post lodged in the standoff
    * So that standoff cannot be used but can be removed from the motherboard.

    Since Dell does not provide the standoffs, a possible remedy is to purchase standoff screws of assorted sizes and find the size that fits.

    @DELL-ChrisM2​ yet if there's no longer a second standoff, the system cannot fully function since the addition of a secondary drive cannot be secured.....

    * That is speculation on your part. @nytemare  , is the drive installed in the slot? If yes, is the 16 aurora booting showing the drive?

    You may find stand off and spacer at this website for reasonable prices.  They are by measurement sizes.

    @DELL-ChrisM2​ WITHOUT the ability of RAID 1 drive security......  NVMEs fail with little to NO regard of informing the customer.  in a singular drive config, the possibility of total data loss is guaranteed, while a RAID 1 allows for a drive to fail while maintaining data integrity for the customer.  system is useless without full functionality......
