Area-51m R?, blue screen, resetting randomly

Hi guys

I have an Alienware Area 51m with i7-8700 and RTX 2070.

The laptop keeps resetting randomly everyday once or twice. Used to do it once or twice a week.

What will happen, even in desktop or in a game, the laptop will go to a black screen then a Windows light blue screen and then reboot. Its frustrating when you are working and you lose your document or session online.

I have tried updating everything in Windows, running antivirus and other suits, and resetting the PC.

Would be nice to hear if anyone else has or had this issue and what they did to overcome it if its possible.

Kind regards

Run a support assist BSOD diagnostic inside of support assist.

Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!

    Hi Free2Win,

I have a similar setup and I had the same issues. After a fatal crash a couple of weeks ago and having to reinstall windows. The thing that seemed to work for me is uninstalling all the alienware software tools. I haven't had a blue screen since.

    cheers,

Hi @Free2Win welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

When operating system unhappy about something and gives blue screen, it should create a critical event. Please run Reliability Monitor and wait for timeline of Events to load. Look at blue screen date/time event for Microsoft error code. Search in internet for error code with similar problem and its solution might be your fix.

If POST fails to complete and gives blue screen, there is a hardware problem that does not give diagnostic beeps/lights. Please reseat RAM cards, and OS(C:) SATA or NVMe storage to ensure that these have good electrical connections.

I recommend you tell me what it says for the blue screen trouble code. Like something saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
