I have a XPS 15 laptop bought many years back. I wish to replace it with Alienware 13, but I am unable to find it on Dell store. Alienware 15 seems to be next possible option though I have to stretch my budget for that. My usage is moderate gaming, programming and movies.
I really like Alienware models for its rugged design and low maintenance. But with recent model M15 doesn't seem to be good like earlier models. Area 51 model exceeds my budget.
I would appreciate suggestions with regards to this. Would it be reasonable to buy older Alienware models like 13 R4 or 15 R4 / R5.
You might also consider a XPS 13 if you want a high rated 13" laptop for less cost. The Alienware 13 has a video available but I couldn't find it on the sales site either. I guess everyone wants a bigger screen now.
Sorry for the late response. Checked out XPS 13, specs look lower on it. I have been spending last few weeks going through Dell G5/G7 vs Alienware M15. I have lost track of what differentiates them apart from type of material used on body structure. I was not targetting used product in general, was thinking if lucky I might find discontinued alienware 13 R4 or something like that. Currently my focus in more on G5, G7 and alienware M15. Read lots of reviews but have my own doubts about their thermal performance.. :) experience from XPS 15 has taught me to be cautious..

XPS 13 here--

or the new 15" G5== https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/cty/pdp/spd/g-series-15-7590-laptop?view=configurations
IMO used laptops are rarely a good deal--no warranty, will need a battery and gaming laptops usually get heavy use.
