Oh, and there is 21.1GB free on the C:\ and 74.4GB free on the E:\ when this backup runs. I can't believe that it would be a space issue as suggested in the error message? Or will the Avamar Client backup utilise a large amount of space when doing backups?

    Hello Marty,

Did you observe CPU and Memory utilization during backup runs ?

The VDI errors may occur if CPU and memory utilization is going very high during backup and causing SQL performance issue.

Please refer to following KB, it has solution for this issue -

    https://emc--c.na5.visual.force.com/apex/KB_BreakFix_1?id=kA1700000000rKE

    Hope this will help you,

    Regards,
