Having issues with Exchange GLR and browsing successful backups. Everything seems fine when it comes to backing up the Exchange Databases but when i attempt a recovery/browse i get errors saying Cannot browse backup empty etc.
When i check the logs i see the following error:
2014-03-28 14:38:19 avmapi Info <18232>: Attempting to open message store
2014-03-28 14:38:20 avmapi Error <18233>: Error 0x80040111 opening message store
2014-03-28 14:38:20 avmapi Info <13564>: Tearing down MAPI session.
Now i have attempted connecting using MFCMAPI tool and i get the same error and for the life of me cannot figure out why this is happening. I've checked AD and it's all happy and in sync, DNS is fine yet i can't recover items.
It's been some time, but still problem with GLR on Exchange 2013 (CU3) is haunting me. EMC support has finally kicked the ball to the Microsoft part of field. What we have done on the Exchange server since then is: 1. Removed MAPI/CDO tools;
2. Installed MS Outlook and opened it under AvamarBackupUser (worked flawlessly);
3. Connected and logged in via MFCMAPI using the profile generated with Outlook autodiscovery;
4. Removed Outlook keeping the generated profile intact;
5. Installed MAPI/CDO;
6. Tried connecting with MFCMAPI using Outlook profile - worked just fine;
7. Exchange GLR still cannot login to the datastore due to MAPI_E_LOGON_FAILED.
I have set up two different test Exchange 2010 servers and was unable to recreate this problem. It looks to be bound only to E2013.
I'm looking for a way to get settings out of Outlook profile and into Avamar GLR profile.
We obviously have the same problem with exactly the same symptoms. EMC support is not being too useful, they also are pointing at Microsoft and telling us to involve Microsoft support in the case. That most likely won't help much, but have to try it next..
I had the same problem, I don't know if it will solve it at all for you, but give it a try go to services in the exchange server look for the service EMC Avamar Exchange GLR service, it should be stopped, try to start it, if it fails there's your issue.
To solve it right click on the service, go to properties, select the log on tab, you should select logon as this account. In the account you should put your AvamarBackupUser and password, if it is selected, write down the password again, I don't know why but sometimes the password get changed. Save the changes and try to start the service again, if it works, you should be able to see the backup data. Bring down the service again, it is suppose to be down all the time it gets started by avamar when necesary.

I've been fighting the same problem for the last two days with no success to the moment. If I find anything, I'll post it here.
Other suggestions are also appreciated!
