Proxy to Datastore Mapping
I am looking at the possible ways of mapping my proxy processes to datastores and was wondering if there is a way to limit the number of concurrent backups per datastore. That is other than restricting the number of proxy processes that can backup that datastore. It is very attractive to setup each proxy process to see every datastore, but I am not sure how well that would work. This will be with Avamar 7.1 when we roll it out.
In one location I have 32 ESX clusters with over 600 datastores across them. Trying to map some subset of datastores to each proxy is daunting, but maybe that's what I need to do? It would be nice if I could just depend on the law of large numbers to balance things out if every proxy process could access any datastore. My concern here is that it might be possible that if I had 8 proxies I could end up with 64 concurrent backups on a single datastore, which may not be a good thing.
Thanks,
