CEE/CAVA configuration

Hi all,

Now I'm working on to configure CEE/CAVA system with TrendMicro for Celerra's virus checking.

I thought I configured it correctly, but a test virus was not detected.

Is there anything that I have to do?

Here the things I've done.

-Create a domain account for virus check and add appropriate rights to it

  (Domain adimins and administrators)

-Create a local group for virus check on each cifs servers

-Join the account to each CIFS's local group

-Create Viruschecker.conf and upload it to DataMovers

   *the content of the conf is

    ------------------------------------------

          addr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(Windows' IP address installed TrendMicro)

          masks=*.*

          shutdown=no

    ------------------------------------------

-Install CEE/CAVA

-Install TrendMicro  and setup RealTimeScan

From the server with TrendMicro all the test virus was detected on both cifs server.

However from the other servers test virus was never dtected ever.

Is there anything that I missed?

Sincerely

    In your other thread, https://community.emc.com/message/511943#511943 , Rainer added that you have to use a CIFS server on the global datamover (i.e. server_2, server_3, NOT vdm_3, vdm_4, etc.).  This CIFS server will be used by all of your other CIFS servers and VDMs for virus checking.  That is, even if you have 20 VDMs, 100 CIFS servers, you will only use ONE CIFS server on the DM for ALL your viruschecking through CAVA.

    Double check your viruschecker.conf file. The first line should be "CIFSserver=aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd" and contain the IP address used by the global CIFS server I just mentioned.  Here's my file:

    [nasadmin@NS80-CS0 ~]$ cat viruschecker.conf
    CIFSserver=141.213.78.110
    addr=141.213.78.84:141.213.78.85:141.213.78.86:141.213.78.87:141.213.76.77:141.213.76.79:141.213.76.80
    masks=*.*
    excl=*.tmp:????????
    shutdown=cifs

    In my case, the top IP address is for this CIFS server:

    [nasadmin@NS80-CS0 ~]$ server_cifs server_2
    server_2 :
    256 Cifs threads started
    Security mode = NT
    Max protocol = NT1
    I18N mode = UNICODE
    Home Directory Shares DISABLED
    Usermapper auto broadcast enabled

    {snip}

    CIFS Server ENGIN-CAVA[UMROOT] RC=19
    Full computer name=engin-cava.adsroot.itcs.umich.edu realm=ADSROOT.ITCS.UMICH.EDU
    Comment='EMC-SNAS:T5.6.46.415'
    if=IF_CAVA l=141.213.78.110 b=141.213.78.255 mac=0:c:fc:0:56:e6
      FQDN=engin-cava.adsroot.itcs.umich.edu (Updated to DNS)

    Even though I have many VDMs, they all use this global CIFS server for CAVA.

    Finally, be sure that when you start CAVA on the Celerra, you use the command server_setup server_x -P viruschk -o start.  Hope this helps!
