I purchased Windows 10 and tried to install it, but it won't install. It gets to 73% through the first blue installation window (before any restarts) and then stops and I get an error message that says 'Windows 10 installation has failed.' Nothing more specific. I Googled the problem and tried all kinds of fixes, to no avail. Any suggestions? Currently running Windows 7 64-bit Pro. Intel Core i 7-6700 CPU, 16 GB RAM. OptiPlex 7050.

If you want to install Win 7 or 10 then just choose custom install and delete all existing partitions (clean install). Win 10 Pro is better because it is internet safe and easier for drivers install. Use the Win 7 pro key to activate 10. It works.

Without knowing what may cause the issue and what type of changes you made to the system for the fixes, it's will require a lot of questions and guessing to make it work. I suggest that you may want to try with the latest Windows 10 from Microsoft. You can go here then click on Update now. It will download the update assistant to guide you through the process. If you prefer, you can also download the Windows Creation Tool to make your own USB/DVD and doing the upgrade off line. You can also use this newly made USB/DVD for a clean installation. It will help you from all the guess works in finding the issue.

Instructions say both computers need to be on the same network. This is at home usage. What is meant by same network? Same router or what?
