I also failed issuing downloads from powerlink using wget

The problem most likely is that you have to login into powerlink first before you can download files.
You should be able to achive this with wget by using the --input-file option. Create a textfile containing the following two lines:
https://powerlink.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/btg548664833igtcuup4826/kmlogin/login.jsp?user= &password=
https://powerlink.emc.com/

Then call wget --input-file=

Can't test this myself at the moment, maybe you need additional cookie/session options for it to work but I hope you get the idea.

Thanks Bernd .. its working!!! ... just now I started the download.. below is the command.. and my next plan is to download the Linux VMware-Player and run it on a Linux machine¿:-)

nohup wget --user=xxxxx@xxx.xxx --password=xxxxxx https://powerlink.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/btg548664833igtcuup4826/km/live1/en_US/Offering_Technical/Software_Download/Celerra_Simulator_TwoDMs.zip >nohup.out &
