FS8600 controllers- change interface?

I am just wondering if it's possible to swap 10GB copper interfaces for 1GB interfaces in an FS8600 controller. My organization purchased an FS8600 with 10GB interfaces, but unfortunately, our network backbone upgrade is lagging behind and we won't have 10GB available at the time of implementation. I'd like to fall back to 1GB for the short term.

Can these be swapped out by the end user?

With enough money you can do just about anything.  :-)

Okay, seriously, I do not know the definitive answer for the FS8600, but if it is anything like the EqualLogic arrays, it is so cost prohibitive to do so that it ends up not being a realistic option.  It sounds like you find yourself in the predicament that many have regarding their legacy 1GbE environments.  It is a domino effect for what has to be upgrade, when, and in what order.

One question worth asking yourself is if the limitation on your FS right now is coming from the spindles (rotational latencies), or from the lack of a fat enough pipe.

It is generally not possible to do what you are asking. 10Gb and 1Gb models are separate skus. I just looked to see if there is a 1gb to 10Gb upgrade, but I am almost positive there is nothing the other way.
