Fabric Manager logging

Hi

I have Fabric Manager 3.0(2a) running on my desktop. I would like to understand how cisco logging works in fabric Manager. Everytime I restart Fabric Manager the
events tab has no logs. While the Fabric Manager is up it accumulates logs but on exit they are lost. I understand that the logs stay resident on the individual switches and reported to fabric manager while session is up. How can it be setup to accumulate logs when the session is not active.

I have another issue with FM 3.0(2a). Most of the time I try to start FM on my desktop its unable to start FM server service. Is that a know bug

    Hello,

I'll asssume you've read through the FM Config Guide located at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5989/products_configuration_guide_book09186a0080667aa0.html. If not, take a look here first.

You note that event tab shows no entries. If you pull a power cable to a switch (make sure it has redundant PS first), do you see the alert show up there. If you don't, it sound like the event destinations isn't populated with your host's IP address or something is stopping the traps like a firewall. If the host is multihomed, there have been issues with the destinations and you may have to manually create them.

In regards to your logs being saved, if you right click in the Log tab you can select various options and dump them out to the saved logs. You can also click and export the entries to a file. Turning other options on from the right click can also provide different outputs.

In regards FM Server not starting, what Host OS? If Windows, what event do you see in event viewer for FMS not starting? Have you tried stopping all the other services on the host and then trying to start FMS? Did you check to see if your host is supported? Supported hosts are listed in the FMS Config Guide. Note that Vista isn't supported.

    Thank you.
