My Experience with Dell
I've been a loyal Dell customer for over 15 years. I currently run 24 desktops in my office and 8 laptops. I also have an Inspiron desktop at my house and and Alienware M15x. I've previously owned XPS laptops as well.
I have become so disappointed in dell's technical support and the quality of their construction and hardware that I am now making a very large investment and switching all my computers to Mac's, My Alienware is supposed to be Dell's flagship computer but from day 1 it has been nothing but problems. I;ve had 4 different tech calls to my house and numerous hours on the phone with tech support to fix problems and they never seem to get fixed. My display driver shuts my screen off randomly every few minutes for a second or 2. The keys on my keyboard fall off all the time. I can't connect to wireless networks half the time and of the 8 laptops in my office 5 of them have to be hardwired to a router just to get internet. The screen on my Alienware got scratched because it would hit the touchpad when it was packed for travel and dell refused to fix it. I had to pay to fix it myself and install little rubber grommets in the corners so that it wouldn't happen again. Now my screen is acting extremely funny and spraying colors all over the place. I don't have any unauthorized programs on my computer except AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite. Similar problems are occurring with almost half the computers in my office and no matte rhow many times the techs come out the problems always come back.
I just wanted to let Dell know that after 15 years of extremely loyal service I am finally biting the bullet and making a large investment into all Mac computers. I just recently purchased a MacBook Pro and I couldn't be happier. I have tried numerous times to get in contact via email and online chat with someone from dell but I just get pushed around from one department to another. I spent over $3000 on my Alienware and expected a better product for my money. I will be donating my computers to a local charity. Hopefully they don't have to spend days with tech support like I have.
