Deduplication on Remote Data Domain ?
I have read that data domain, dedupes and compresses data. I have a situation:
We have two data domains, the source DD is used for VTL and NFS. All the data in it is replicated to a remote DD, of same physical size at a remote location.
The source DD, dedupes and compresses the data and send it to the remote DD via Directory replication.
The remote DD also dedupes and compresses the data (only thing being the data is actually already deduped and compressed from source DD). Does this not effect the dedupe and compression capability of remote DD, considering the fact that the data is already compressed and deduped from source DD.
Kindly explain...

no it won't - rather you will get bit better dedupe on the remote site. as it will try to do its best to re-dedupe the data. i have seen it at my place atleast.
