After setting the SATA Mode to AHCI we got a Recovery message that the PC needs to be repaired with error code 0xc000000d
Today we also received the media for DELL, because we were advised to reinstall Windows. Now I am already a bit more positive that we might be able to repair, but not reinstall.
did you reset the BIOS? Or was it set like this by factory?
I'm guessing that the system is configured to use the 32GB drive for Intels Smart Response Technology. As Intel Smart Response will not run in AHCI mode, you will need to enable the RAID mode again.
Please proceed with the reinstallation of the operating system.
Could you please tell me will as part of the warranty I receive support for recovering my files, before reinstalling Windows and without investing too much time in that?
I do understand your dissatisfaction with the system so far. Please keep in mind, that the promised engineer for the "Next Business Day Service" can only be sent for hardware replacements.
You will not violate the warranty when going for option 1 or 2. Please take care when replacing parts and contact the support if you have any questions.
The owners manual will guide you through the hard drive removal process:
when following the linked guide, you will not be able to switch to RAID. Using RAID will require you to install the operating system while RAID is enabled. It is not possible to switch to RAID mode on a operating system which was installed in AHCI mode.
On step 12 the guide asks you to install drivers using the Dell Webpage. As long as the WiFi driver has not been installed, WiFi will not function at all.
