Media Compaction

Can a piece of media be compacted even though a FILE RESTORE process has not been performed on it? The media has been added to the media folder but a file restore process has not been run. What concerns should I have about duplicate files in this situation?

You must first run the file restore to create stub files on the extended drive. The stubs will be used during compaction so DX knows which files to fetch back to the extended drive.
By default DX will log dupes in the media log. You should not have any issues.
