I have a new PS6000 to eventually replace my old PS300E(still under warranty). I was thinking that I was going to add it to the exiting pool and take advantage of the distribution load features of the latest 5.1 firmware.
I am now thinking that I should just create a new pool and transfer the data to the new SAN. My thought was that I am not really going to benefit from the distribution features because they are the same type of drives and RAID type. The downside will be the downtime during transfer. I can later add the old san back and use it for static data and testing.
Is there any benefit with having the older san the first in the pool?
