I am running 8.0.0.2 and that screen you show seems to do nothing and have no effect on emailing at all (Cluster Management --> General Settings -> Email Settings).  I had the same frustration at first until I figured out the "alert on events" settings thunzeker talks about.  In fact, I think I purposely went back after setting up an alert on the heartbeat and took out everything on that first page and my alert still fired and emailed correctly so I never could figure out what that page actually did.  I decided to fill it out again, just in case, but I don't know if it is really doing anything.

Also running 8.0.0.2 after I got the SMTP to work I get spamed by "Resolved: Heartbeat Event" e-mails!

I hade to disable the SMTP Alert Channel to get it to stop.

    hi all,

i am also struggeling with the mail notification...we have running Version 8.0.0.3.

we have created a smtp alert channel. then used the test event button and received no error. we see the test Event coming up, but no mail received yet. question is... which nodes or ip addresses will this smtp notification use to send the mail? .

we have 2 subnets configured. one for 1G ext-1 and another subnet for 2 IP pools - 10G static for CIFS and 10G dynamic for NFS v3. i have seen a new Option, where nodes can be added to be used for the notification...is this helpful, cause ip addresses will move from node to node with the dynamic option.

    thanks

    kind regards,
    Sebastian

with 10G static for CIFS, were you able to achieve high availability when one of the interfaces( or even a node ) goes down?

Why you should never again utter the word "CIFS"
