Isilon IP migrations

Hi,

Currently we have 2 subnets with different IP ranges /24 and /25 and have dynamic pools configured in each.  We are planning to assign a new /23 subnet and migrate  IP's from /24 and/25 range.   What is the process to migrate IP's and the Impacts/maintenance needs to consider for planning.   Please provide any documentation if available.

Thank you for help in advance.

    Hi khkris,

Just for clarification, you intend to combine the IP's currently in the /24 and /25 all into the /23. Is that correct?

    Hi khkris,

Is it a completely different range or a combination of the original two, plus the additional IPs that would make a /23? For example,

    Original ranges: 10.0.0.0/ 24 Range 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.254

                               10.0.1.0/ 25 Range 10.0.1.1 - 10.0.1.126

    New range: 10.0.0.0/23 Range 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.1.254

This will require deleting existing pools, which meas that it will require downtime. You may be able to edit one of the existing subnets to accommodate the new range after deleting the secondary subnet. I always recommend at least having the capability to connect to the cluster directly through a serial connection before making these adjustments, as you will lose remote connection.

i would also recommend opening a service request and working with Isilon Support to develop a plan based on your individual cluster configuration.
