I was just trying to set up Bitlocker eDrive on my Latitude 5521 which included the SSD PM991a.
However I was not able to enable it after following steps:
Tried to activate eDrive with Samsung Magician, but Disk not recognized
Performed Data Wipe through BIOS
Deactivate "Block SID authentication" in BIOS
Enable Secure Boot
Perform Fresh W11 install
After that I tried to activate OPAL 2 encryption with sedutil. However there the tool showed me that the drive would not support OPAL 2.
After that I exchanged the Samsung PM991a with a Samsung Evo 970 and Bitlocker eDrive works now (with the steps I described above), however now I have this Dell Bios Bug concerning Dell Security as described here (but thats a different topic)
So did anybody of you guys manage to set up Bitlocker eDrive with an original Dell Drive (Samsung PM...)? According to the specs they should provide HW encryption ...
@josef512 thanks for the reply! But somehow your answer got deleted!
Anyway I tried to contact dell technical support before, but I didn´t manage to get any answer since obviously my support is expired! (To be honest I don´t get why I can´t even ask such general question without paying for further support!)
So it looks like there is no solution for this issue.
