Thank you the biggest reason I've been so unsure is because of the power draw from the i7. Dell would really benefit from providing a more stout power supply with the X51's.

I have the same configuration of x51. If I were to upgrade to the 970, is there a certain manufacturer or type I should buy? I love playing games, but I don't know a lot about upgrading. My warranty is about to expire as well. I suppose extending it wold be pointless since modifying my pc would void it, correct?

I just wanted to check again about upgrading my gtx 960 to a gtx 970. Would this card work:

I was a little concerned when I first got my x51 because the suggested power supply for the 960 is 400w, but it has worked fine. I just don't want to buy the wrong card and have some kind of malfunction in my pc that causes damage. Thanks for your help and patience.

That GPU should work fine.

The suggested PSU takes more into account than your standard PC fare (such has higher power consuming CPUs and components). It could be considered an overestimation, but it's there so you have a safety net, so to speak.

I installed the card that I linked to earlier in the thread, but now I get a black screen when I try to play a game. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia drivers. Use DDU to uninstall the drivers.

I won't list everything that went wrong, but it was a nightmare. I am back to my 960 card. I am not sure if I'll be able to get my money back, but it seems like I lack the knowledge and skill to do it. I guess I'll have to be happy with what I have. :(
