The system image is installed on your hard drive in a file called ZZsomething. I is ony good if it has not been overwritten. You might consider using partition Magic if all you want to accomplish is to partition the hard drive.

No, I don't. Give them a call. You can always use drive image to create your own image. I use the program and it is fantastic. Of course, you ned something to create the image on. Now we're starting to get expensive. Still, if you are serious about imaging your hard drive. Its the perfect backup. For example, I upgraded Windows Media Player to the latest version and one of my wife's games stopped working. (How to get in trouble fast!) I formatted the C drive and in 20 minutes restored everything back the way it was from my latest image.

Your Dell has a DOS utility called ZZTop that allows you to restore your hard drive from a image file hidden on your hard drive. This restoration will put things back to the way they were when it came out of the box.

Unfortunately if you plan to reformat your hard drive, the image will be destroyed. Since the image file is hidden there is no way for the user to access it or make a copy of it.

The way I see it is you have two options. Either reformat, partition and restore everything from the Windows and Resource CDs or use a product like Partition Magic to repartition, move and resize your drive. Partition Magic will do all that without losing your existing files on your drive. There is a good chance though that Partition Magic will destroy or corrupt your ZZTop image file, but that will happen anyways overtime as the hard drive is in use and the hidden file gets overwritten.
