Computer locked when awakened from sleep mode.
I have just acquired an XPS 8300 desktop which when awakened from sleep mode shows the computer to be locked with the option to switch user. My previous Dell (XPS 435) did not do this - is there any way to disable this function? I am the only user in a home environment so do not require this "protection". I presume it locks after a given period of inactivity. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium version. Many thanks.

This is not a hardware issue.
This is a registry setting for screen saver.
Since the security features are enhanced on Windows, this happens when the password is enabled on the computer to ensure for the more protection for your user account, however you may disable the password and check if that helps you. You may disable the password at your own risk.
Here are steps to disable the password after waking from sleep.
1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Power Options.
4. Click on “Require Password on Wakeup” on the left pane.
5. Select the option “Don’t require a password.”
