Formatting My Computer..

I have a Dell Dimension 8100 ... And its a piece of ****.. so i want to format it. I want to get rid of everything except for a few things that i will put on disc.. How will i go about doing this .. would i use the XP professional cd.. or could i do it from my comp???

    you need the cd. it's pretty straight forward, just boot from the CD and follow the directions.

    Put everything you want to keep on cd first.Once you formatt the hard drive all data will be lost.

    Should I put my files mp3's and such on CD... or when i put the cd in will i be able to choose which things i still want?

    Everytime I get a new Dell I always format the drive with a Windows 98 boot disk. After install I add a logical partition (with Partition Magic) to save important data,  drive images , and other things to.
