Screen display chopped off

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 660 with a Dell S2240L 21.5 inch monitor.  The screen is cut-off by about an inch on the left hand side.  The right side is fine.

    Hi Dwbirt,

Two things to check First, make sure your desktop resolution is set to 1920x1080. Second, use the keys on the right side panel to center the image.

Thank you Osprey.  The resolution was set to 1920 x 1080, but I used the right side panel keys as you suggested to center the image.  Thanks for the quick reply.

    Hi,

I own the Dell S2240L and has been working fine on a VGA cable until recently i switched to a HDMI cable. Once i connected the monitor to the HDMI cable the monitor refreshed just to cut off portions on all four sides , i.e., the complete screen is not being used. Around 2cms on the horizontal axis & 1cm on the vertical axis is spared.
    My screen resolution is: 1920x1080
    Framerate: 60Hz.
The auto adjust and display options on the manual keys of the monitor are locked.
    Kindly help.
