Shut down problem
When left unattended for 20 - 30 mins. my computer switches itself off and I hve to reboot it. This has also happened whilst I have been playing a CD, again whilst the computer was unattended for 20 or so mins....?

Hi,
This is probably going to relate to your Power Mangement settings, in My Computer | Control Panel | Power Management, or else with your screensaver.
You can do some things to fix this, starting with the screensaver. Either diasable it completely, since it is not needed with modern monitors, find a less complex screensaver (if you're using a 3D one), or cut back the complexity of any 3D screensavers you are using--they usually have adjustments which can be made on them.
On the power management, this is a feature which was ported to desktops systems from laptops and has never worked well in desktop systems for some reason. There are reasons to try to keep some of the features, though, so it might be worth your while to try to troubleshoot this. When you go to My Computer | Control Panel | Power Management, you'll get a window popping up where you may view and change your settings. If you have never made changes to these settings, I would recommend that you have them set this way (you may vary your times to suit your needs, OK?):
The top field should read Home/Office Desk. The next field, regarding Standby, set to Never--this is the biggest problem feature of all. The timesets for your monitor and spindown of your hard drive--set to whatever you wish--I use 30 minutes on both. Click Apply, then click OK.
If you choose not to use Power Management features, the top field should read Always On, all other entries should read Never. Click Apply, then OK.
The reason to use power management primarily concerns your hard drive--if you allow it to spin down when not using it, it preserves it for longer.
Good luck,
Kay
