Hi there.
I have a Dell Inspiron 5520 that boasts of an 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, intel core. i7 3630QM. Purposely selected it for the sake of speed. I naturally hate waiting on laptops. It runs Windows 8.
Recently, I discovered that whenever the laptop is idle for 2 minutes, the screen goes completely blank. It comes back when I shake the mouse or hit a button. I've tried checking with the battery settings (including sleep time, dim screen, etc) but the solution ain't there. It's frustrating seeing the screen suddenly blink when you're concentration is gathering momentum on the book you're reading off the screen. I resort to shaking the mouse now and then.
I'm afraid to start poking around especially after my account went $830 leaner purchasing the system. It's barely 5 month's old. But the laptop is just KOOL. Many Kudos to Dell.
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Best regards.
Sobe

Hi Iwene,
Thank you for writing to us and i appreciate that you have already tried checking battery settings including sleep time, dim screen etc…
Please check under power options; click on change plan settings; advanced power settings; then in the list click on Display, Set turn off display time to 0 and apply changes.
Please let us know if the issue resolved.
Thanks,

Hi Raghav,
It's funny how some problems get solved.
I tried your suggestion but even though it did not solve the problem, it led me to the solution.
I scanned the system using the pre installed Dell app and it showed that I have not set the screen saver password. Since I never activate screen savers, I decided just to set the password and - funny enough - the screen saver was inadvertently set to activate for 1 minute and just show a blank screen. I turned it off and the problem was solved.
Thanks a million for your lead.
Regards.
Iwene
