yes i have done tat..but the problem still remains..
if i want to say transfer an mp3 to someone else s phone or laptop..i right click n go to send to n bluetooth device..
on openin that i get a msg askin me to verify if my bluetooth hardware has been installed..
my own personal phone has been synced to my laptop..n i can transfer frm phone to laptop but not vice-versa
I didn't understand your reply. Everything was fine on my system till I had a virus attack for which I had to format my entire system. I did this with the help of the guys at Dell India Customer Service. After that, this is happening. I cant send anything to say another laptop or phones but i can receive everything.

What operating system are you using? I know on Windows Vista there is no support for the SYNC profile in lots of mobile phones and devices. For example my k790a has bluetooth I can send files to the phone from the laptop but I had to set it up first. Vista should install some devices depending on the device. You can add more than one device of course. OBEX was installed. Make sure your device is configured to accept files from your computer, and that its visable. On Windows XP you have to used the software provided with 355 Module that has the setup software for OBEX support and other protocols, since XP doesn't have a bluetooth stack natively available. On Vista this will install automatically when the device and the OS interact. On some phones or devices the SYNC profile won't be installed as it is not supported. But everything else including OBEX will work.well i have a win xp on my sys...i have tried to do a dell diagonistics n nothing comes up on that..i can see no problem at the device manager..all clear there..but i just cant send files frm on system to my phone or any other laptop
i can send thru Nokia pc suite only..
when i initially got my system everything was perfect..

Yes on XP you won't be able to send anything even though the icon is on your taskbar. You will need to run the install CD that came with your hardware to install the bluetooth stacks+software because no profiles are supported under Windows XP. Since the Nokia Suite is a profile+software itself thats why it works. When you finished installing this program from the CD you will have "My Bluetooth Places" and various others bluetooth related additions to your OS.

Ok when you install the Bluetooth device on Windows XP you will have the driver for the device, but the device won't work because Windows XP doesn't have a Bluetooth profile to work with. So the icon will appear on your taskbar, but it will be useless unless you use a PC Suite to send files. The PC Suite itself is a profile. To install the profile for Windows you need to run the installation CD that came with your DELL 355 BT Module. Then the CD setup will install the necessary software on your computer to be able to send and recieve files. If you don't have the CD then you can download it from http://www.support.dell.com. Just select you computer type and then the Bluetooth option, and look for the software there. I had that same problem as well. I installed device and only used the driver from the CD, and my icon was on the taskbar as blue, but it didn't work. Only after installing the software then I could send and recieve files.
