Can someone please explain to me how i can tell if my battery is charging. Was given a used inspiron b130, bought a new battery for it. When i plug it in to charge the battery indicator light was solid green for about an hour or so then started blinking green. Does the light blinking indicate that it's charged? Thank you!

My Inspiron 5160 shows a solid green indicator when the battery is being charged. This changes to a slow blink when charging is nearly complete. Once the battery reaches full charge the indicator remains off, no blinks.
I have also used Latitudes that follow a similar scheme except that once the battery reaches full charge the indicator continues to blink for as long as the AC adapter is providing power.
It appears from your description that the battery is being charged and the laptop is behaving normally.
Did you buy an official Dell battery or an aftermarket unit? The aftermarket unit I bought for my E1705 ($40) blinks forever after the unit is almost fully charged. There is apparently some issue with the charging circuity in the battery that causes this. This battery is still going strong at one year.

Thanks for your effort! I got more deep understanding about this part.

Lot's of info out there on these battery problems. See this BLOG concerning the blinking orange.
Some have fixed this when the battery seems fully charged but stops working and the orange blinker starts. Unplug the laptop, remove the battery, allow it to remain out for a few minutes, replace and plug in. Seems to have something to do with battery calibration, but........
