diags & drivers disk prob

I have some audio & video probs with my inspiron 1150
I want to reinstall the drivers from the drivers disk.
It has three drop downs - model, OS & disk menu option.
Except the model number is filled & won't change - it says Inspiron 6000
so naturally it wants to give me the drivers for the hardware it thinks I have - which I don't.
How do I get the drop down menu back for this menu so I can gewt the disk to give me the correct drivers?
any help appreciated
thanks

Sounds like you have the wrong driver disc. You can download what you need from support.dell.com. Enter your service tag, choose Downloads.

no that's not the problemn - it had a model number drop down but then it autofilled and the drop-down vanished.

No you have the wrong driver disc...Dell only has drivers available on disc for CURRENTLY SHIPPING models and therefor the one you got is for new models and will not have the drivers you need for your system... best to go to www.suppport.dell.com and download the drivers you need.. they come in .EXE (executable) files.

The poster is right but his link doesn't work. Go to the top of this page, hover over "Notebooks", click Inspiron, and you will be lead to the drivers you need.

    thnaks all
eventually - as the comms weren't working so with a lot of driver downloading, copying to disk and transferring through the Nike Network, the audio, video and comms were all kickstarted, and now it's a handsome, working laptop. Thanks for your help,
