I agree.... don't do it! I loved my Inspiron 1560, had an issue with the AC adapter not charging my battery, paid... a lot... to have it fixed and 30 days after my 90 day warantee was up... guess what, the SAME exact freakin' thing is wrong again, and guess who doesn't care... DELL. "I'm sorry, but your extended 90 day warantee has expired"....BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

So let's see. The product failed after the warranty was over and they refused to fix it free of charge? You do understand what a warranty is, right? The time period during which they'll fix things free of charge? As in, after the warranty expires, repairs are on your own dime?
I had to have work done on my car after the warranty expired. Guess what? I had to pay for it!

no no no... of course I know what a waranty is... but if I sold you a computer, barely two years ago now, and you gave it back to me to fix a part. I charge you $500 to fix that part and give you a 90 day waranty on that. So the waranty is up, and 30 days later, that SAME exact problem I fixed the first time is back, and I tell you to give me another $500 or I won't fix it... if that makes sense to you, great, but not to me. I'm not paying dell $500 every 6 months to repair a 2 year old notebook! I paid my $500 the first time, why would I even think it's reasonable to pay it yet again, 5 months later- "no no no... of course I know what a waranty is... but if I sold you a computer, barely two years ago now, and you gave it back to me to fix a part. I work in retail and get customers like you all the time. You give, give, give andd they're never happy. That's when you stop wanting to give. If your extended warranty is up, IT's OVER. DONE.

I feel the same way after purchasing my laptop inspiron 600 almost 2 years ago. Never worked properly, customer care and tech support just pass you around. I recently wrote to Michael Dell adn CEO. Di dyou ever get a response? Purchase over $1000 and have had problems since day one. Was previously devoted Dell customer but unless they address this, will never buy dell again. I read the same problems with these laptops on other messages. They are selling a product that is a lemon and not taking customers seriously. To me, they have stolen my money.bamcgowan1

Within the first 6 months there were charging issues, with the adaptor it seemed...and ALWAYS got extremely hot underneath, which I never mentioned as I thought it was normal. There seemed to be keyboard issues, and then last summer...I can't even remember what I spent 3 months sending it back and forth for. Then at the end of the warranty, troubleshooting with the techs they said my harddrive was gone... I argued and argued with them for over a week (hours on the phone, etc...) till someone listened and looked into my past problems and said they would send me a new hardrive, which they did. In the last month I woudl be on it, and it would just shut down. Sometimes it would reboot, sometimes not...till finally once it was restarted a window came up that said windows could not find my security info, with an OK button. When I clicked it, EVERYTHING was gone on my computer..it just went to tthe desktop which had only 3 icons on it., no files, no folders, nothing... It always ran HOT but like I said, I thought this was normal having never owned a laptop before.bamcgowan1

If you are content paying your hard earned money for products that don't work during the warranty period...thats your business. You buy a product from a mfg because you trust that this product is a realiable product, works well. Why should this girl have to fork out another $500 to fix the same issue she had prior...that doesn't tell you something about the product? that it is a lemon? After reading the same issues that people have had with their laptops...adaptor, motherboard, etc... it's making me wonder whether this batter issue and the overheating that all speak about; basically ruined the components in the laptops..and Dell can just say that your out of warranty (as the battery issue wasn't discovered till now)..and people are stuck with laptops that have been ruined......
