Go to SolutionFactory Reset?
I have a dell L502x laptop. Over the summer I became victim of the "FBI moneypak" virus. In my stupidity i did a hard shut down (held the power button until it shut down) and tried restarting it. When i restarted the computer the only screen was a screen similar to the advanced boot options screen, only without any options just words saying an error. So i got upset and decided to wipe my entire computer and just put windows back on. Now i can start my computer and open it to the desktop. The only problem is that i cant connect to my internet with wifi or an ethernet cable, nor can i use an ucb because it doesnt read it. i loaded the drivers (that i got for my model off of dells website) for the computer by booting from the flashdrive. I guess my question is, can i send in my laptop and have all the settings that were on it right of the box put back on? Or what route do i need to go from here?

Hi HSmith90,
Please share the operating system installed on your computer.
It appears that you have formatted the hard drive and then have re-installed the operating system on your computer. Check the 'Device Manager' of computer in case there are is any yellow exclamation mark or red cross. You may access 'Device Manager' by following steps below:
- Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
- Click on “Manage”.
- Click on “Device Manager”.
You may install the drivers for your computer from the following links:
- Intel Huron River: http://dell.to/Xi7Wwo
- Intel Management Engine Interface: http://dell.to/Xi7VIR
- Renesas USB3.0 Host Controller: http://dell.to/13x7oWT
- JMicron JMB389 Card Reader: http://dell.to/13xWVuN
- Audio: http://dell.to/YhIe9V
- Touchpad: http://dell.to/Wz6MhY
- Ethernet: http://dell.to/YVgGZ6
- ST Microelectronics DE351DL Motion Sensor: http://dell.to/Wol2cT
Steps to download drivers:
- Click on “Download File”.
- Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
- Click on “Download Now”.
- Save the driver on your desktop.
- Once the driver is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
- Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.
You may check the video card and wireless card installed on your computer from the 'Device Manager'. Another way is to check the video card / wireless card shipped with your computer from system configuration webpage, under 'Original system configuration' Tab. You can click on the link: http://dell.to/137Ex95
Please share the findings.
@Chinmay S- I am using Windows 7 home premium. And yes i went to device manager and there are yellow warning on the internet devices. How do i load those drivers to my computer though? Because the driver for the usb controller hasnt been installed and therefor will not read a flashdrive.
Thank you both for all the help!!! I no longer have an uber expensive paperweight. But my next question is this. I can connect to the internet through an ethernet cable, what driver do i need to download to get the wireless internet to work? Or is my card just done for?
These would be the drivers:
You must have installed the Intel chipset driver first.
