Fixed my 5150 DC powerjack problem myself
I like a lot of others had the DC power jack problem and have not used this computer (I am on it now) for around 6 months due to the new motherboard doing the same thing.
After my daughter crushed the LCD on my Acer earlier this week by stepping on it, I decided to play around with this one again. I took the computer apart in about 30 minutes using the guide on this site, I took my soldering iron and added extra solder to all of the solder joints on top and on bottom for the jack. That seems to have done the trick as the computer now works and recharges the battery. It also no longer jiggles. I've decided that when I want to use this one I will unplug it and only plug it in to recharge the battery. I plan on selling it as soon as I get a replacement LCD for my other one. And for any of you that are not having palm rest shutdown issues, do yourself a favor and break off the side tabs on the "C" panel on the back. This will prevent it from happening in the first place.
If your motherboard is not cracked, it can be repaired in the same way easily. At least this is some hope for those who have been told they have $1500 door stops.

- No I didn't. There are a total of 9 connections (I believe) holding it to the MB, I reinforced them all and remelted the solder underneath as well (be careful, you can burn the MB easily). This did the trick, no more wiggles and it actually charges all the time.

Do you think you could give me a link to the guide you used, and about how hard is it to get to what needs to be soldered.hhsredhead

Well here is a good one, it was fixed, then it wasnt, now it is working great, i think i found the solution, i plug the adaptor in first then turn on the LT then when it has started i plug in the AC and it is working great, i think now is the time to trade it in on a new HP.
