I7500, Intel Speedstep, Windows 2000

i'm re-installing Windows 2K on this machine, but i don't find the speedstep utility in I7500 downloads at Dell's web site. the applet was installed originally, while the machine was running Win NT4, and the applet is still available for Win NT4. my question: is there some reason i should not install the Speedstep Applet in Win 2K? if there isn't some kind of problem for Win 2K, where can i find a version for that OS?

    Look here for some information:

If you still have your System Software CD that came with your system, the above link will help you.

thanks, i do have the original system software CD but there isn't a Win 2K folder, the only similar folders are Win 98 and Win NT. i bought this machine in Feb 2000, and it's possible a Win 2K version was not available at that time.

i din't find anything like 'system software' or 'speedstep' on the download site for Win 2k OS. is a Win 2K version available somewhere else?

    Quid..

If memory serves me you should be able to use the speedstep utility for the Inspiron 5000.. Really, the only thing that matters is that it is for 2K..
