Inspiron 4150

I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my Inspiron 4150.  Ever sonve the, whenever I shut the lid on the computer, when I open it back up, the screen is off.  Nowthing I do will make it come back on, I have to turn it of and fire it up again to get the screen to come back.  Any ideas?

    This could be due to a couple of reasons:
    (a) The Power Management settings have been configured this way. Go to the page where you can change the Screensaver and at the bottom of that window, you will see a Power tab ; Select it
    {You could also go to Control Panel and select Power Options}
    There, you can check the settings and Power schemes {Set it to ALWAYS ON}

    (b) Although less likely, there could be a loose cable between the LCD and the Motherboard.
    If the above steps don't work, let us know and we'll work on an Alternative

    I updated the video driver to correct another problem I was having, and that seemed to clear up the screen problems, too.  Thanks for your help!

    What does it say on the Advanced Power tab in Windows?

    There is an option there that says: "when I close the lid of my portable computer:"

    stand by

    or

    do nothing

    Maybe try switching options. Mine used to be set to "stand by" but it started doing what you described, as if it couldn't get out of stand by mode. So, I switched it to do nothing and it was fine... Then later I switched back to stand by and it was still fine. LOL
