    Hi wildcat rlbs29,

This might be an issue with the touchpad as well. Kindly let me know the system model so that I can help you better.

Follow below steps to isolate the issue:

To isolate the issue, connect an external keyboard and check the status.

If the external keyboard is working, the issue can be with the internal keyboard.

Check if the same issue happens in safe mode with networking (restart the computer and tap F8 on Dell logo and select safe mode with networking).

Also, update the touch pad drivers on the computer.

    1. Visit the following website: www.support.dell.com
    2. Enter the Service tag of the computer in the box provided and click “Submit”.
    3. In the next page, click drop down arrow to select the Operating System which is installed in the computer.
    4. Under category Input, click on the touchpad drivers and click “Download File” and save the file on desktop.
    5. Double click the file and follow the onscreen instructions.

    Awaiting your response!

    Hi wildcat rlbs29,

I recommend, install Touch freeze .This Utility disables touchpad automatically while you are typing text.

Install the touch freeze drivers from the below link:

From the above link, click on Downloads sections, save the file and run the file.

Please reply if you have any further questions.
