Make external display primary?

Anyone know if there is a way to make an external display your primary while running a dual display? Instead of the laptop screen?

(Running an xps / radeon 9700 if it matters)

On my Radeon 7500, I make my tv the primary display in Display Properties - Settings tab - Advanced button - Displays tab. For me, it's a teal-coloured button below the picture of the external display, and it toggles. Don't know if that helps or not - if not, post back and I'm sure someone else with one of the newer cards will be able to help.

Yeah, the usual "Make primary display" checkbox is greyed out on every display i've tested with.... kind of annoying - tough to do any work on this thing.
