Multiple Issues with Inspiron 1501

Hi,

I am having a couple of issues with my Inspiron 1501 and I am very savvy at this being an IT Manager and an IT Tech for 17 years. I had a nasty virus attack my laptop and withing 15 minutes of it happening, crippled the PC so to make things easy, I decided to completely format the PC to be sure the malicious code was gone. This also presented me with a great opportunity because I had the laptop come in with XP Home SP2 and I replaced it with my XP Professional.

Now, I had a bad time loading drivers after the re-install. This is not an XP to Vista install, I mean it is an XP Home to XP Pro (better scenario). Many of the drivers on the Resource CD would not load, I had to download them from the website.

Now, on to my two issues:

1. The video looks bad. I have the ATI software loaded and it says on a default monitor but at any resolution be it 800x600, 1024x768, ect, the text looks like it is half erased for lack of a better description. Bold in some areas and not in others so I think I have a video issue here.

2. After reloading, the WLAN would not come back. Day one and two, I had the WiFi light lit but anytime I would hit the Configuration Utility (after installing the drivers which by the way were not included in the package on my CD, nothing would happen. Now on Reformat Day + 3 the light is out and triggering the key combo on the keyboard does nothing. Could someone help me with some direction...very confused here.

Thanks, Joel
