New E1505

Hello all and thank you for reviewing my questions.  I just purchased an E1505 and i'm having several problems.  First, I can see my wireless network that I already have setup and can even get an IP address however it will not connect and then gives me this error:

Limited or no connectivity. Then it tells me it can not get an IP address.

I want to add I'm using a secure network and the password I enter gets validated, along with the IP address showing then I get the Network Connectiong Staus error then it quits.

Furthermore, I have a 15 inch screen and I'm curious if on internet pages you can get the whole page to display across the monitor instead of having one half of white space on the right.

Have you done the updates from dell yet?  Try the chipset update and the networking one.  I had problems with my first notebook.  I downloaded cable nut and it seemed to help.  I got tired of having to unplug my router every time I wanted to connect.

Does anyone think I'd have to download some sort of driver from my adapter even though I just purchased this machine?

Try rebooting your network. Turn off and unplug everything - cable or DSL modem, router, computer, etc. Wait a few minutes. Then turn everything back on one by one starting with the modem, then router, and finally the notebook and any other computers.

Right on.. If that is'nt working then test your modem by plugging direct into the notebook's Lan adapter.. If you do get connected than it might be a malfunctioning router or one that needs a firmware update.. Routers are really sesitive to lightning damage and overheating.. I have replaced 4 within this summer..Linksys b and b&g seems to be the bad egg even though I like the cisco technology. I have two customers that have called me and they reboot everytime they want to internet and then they will get dropped in the middle of somthing then they must restart again. This is a case of a faulty router. Now there is known cases of bad modems also.. Hope this will help you..

if you still have the problem this is the right solution
one if you have no knowledge of computers then i recomend you have someone do it for you.

    right click on my computer
    go to the hardware tab
select your adapter (wan or Lan) and click properties
go to the advance tab these are the best configurations

disable bands.......none (compatible with all networks)
    roam tendency....moderate
    roam decision....default

now this is the important part
wzc ibss channel number.... set it to watever channel you recieve your wireless from. 1-5 for unsecured networks 6-11 for password enabled networks. 11 not 11u or 6u. preferably 11 at 20mhz is the best or 6 at 20mhz
