Kindly follow the below steps to check which network card you have in the Computer:

To open Device Manager, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager. Expand Network adapters from right pane.

This will list the network card installed in the machine.

Now, follow below steps to install the Ethernet card drivers

1. Visit the following website: www.support.dell.com
2. Enter the Service tag of the computer in the box provided and click “Submit”.
3. In the next page, click drop down arrow to select the Operating System which is installed in the computer and the list of drivers for the computer appear.
4. Under “Network” click on the drivers to install on the computer.

I have a Latitude D810 that I reloaded windows xp and need the drivers for the Ethernet  card to get it on line and updated. I can't find the restore cd so do I have to buy another cd to get the drivers or can I download them to another pc and update them? Thanks Greg

I have the same problem, my dell will not get online, how do i load drivers using another, laptop that has internet access?

On a flash drive you need:

The Dell notebook system software

the chipset driver

The wired network driver

The wireless network driver

Also - you should not be using Windows XP on the Internet at this point.  It is a end of life, unsupported sitting duck as far as security attacks go.

I loaded all but the wired driver on the flashdrive, the others were on the Dell site, and marked "criticle" in the recommended downloads. I didnt think about the Ethernet driver, its a laptop and wifi is enough. They downloaded to my online computer, I dragged and dropped them into the flash drive. They downloaded to the pc in need of them, opened into the downloads library, but would not install. The dell install wizard would start, but could not complete several times. Went back to Dell, downloaded them as an iso, burnt all to disk, same outcome.

I am aware xp is finished, but this older laptop would not support windows7. It is an older one i let my grandkids play on. My Norton still seemed to be working , and it has child safe restrictions, and i would hope no viris will be lurking in cartoons, educational games, etc.
